Jason grew up playing Minor Baseball in Innisfail and Red Deer. He was a member of the 2003 Team Alberta U-16 Western Canada Summer Games (Silver) and U-17 Canada Cup (Silver).
- 2004 Team Alberta Canada Cup (Silver) and went to Team Canada/MLB Top Prospects camp in Montreal.
- 2005 Member of Team Alberta at the Canada Summer Games (Bronze).
